Commodore’s Thank You – 24-Hour Race

Commodore’s Thank You – 24-Hour Race

Well, what a 24 hours!

I’d like to start by saying a massive thank you to every sailor and every helper who made this year’s 24-hour race possible.

We certainly had a bit of everything from Mother Nature. We started with some strong winds, which gave everyone plenty to think about and certainly put the boats and sailors through their paces.

Then, later in the day, the wind decided it had done enough for the weekend and virtually disappeared! We went from hanging on in the strong breeze to wondering whether the boats were actually moving at all!

But despite the changing conditions, everyone kept going, and that’s what makes this race so special.

A huge thank you to the safety team, who were out there keeping an eye on everyone throughout the race.

And of course, a massive thank you to everyone who helped in the galley. The food was fantastic and certainly kept everyone going when the wind wasn’t!

We were also blessed with some great sunshine, which made the whole event even better.

The 24-hour race takes a tremendous amount of effort behind the scenes, and it simply wouldn’t happen without all the volunteers who give up their time to make it work.

So, from me as Commodore, and on behalf of the club, thank you to every sailor, every helper, the safety team, the galley team, and everyone else who played their part.

You’ve all helped make it another fantastic 24-hour race.

Well done everyone, and thank you!
