2026 Race:
In 2026 we will be holding the ever popular 12hr race on the usual last Saturday of June – the 27th. It will run 8am to 8pm. If you are interested in entering a team please reserve a place by completing this form. Further details will follow on this website, Facebook and Instagram pages around race news, setup and confirmed teams/clubs. For safety reasons we need to limit the number of teams to 30, so please secure your place early to avoid disappointment.
Fees are £110 for the first boat, and £90 for additional (must be paid before 1st May 2026). These prices will increase to £150/£130 1st May 2026 onward. Price includes parking, camping and gazebo space for the duration of your stay.
The race is open to 4 boat classes – GP14’s, Enterprise, Argo (Symmetrical Spinnaker only) and RS Quest. Teams compete for a number of “races within races” and the overall title race by sailing anti-clockwise around the Marine Lake in Southport. Depending on conditions, this can be up to 60-80 times around the islands, with frequent “tactical” crew changes to ensure everyone plays their part and has a great experience. This large lake is located just meters away from one of the largest golden sand beaches in the country, and within easy walking distance of the seaside town of Southport. The 2 small islands in the lake ensure sailing is challenging, but the shallow depth (5ft max) also means it is very safe for youngsters.
Southport Sailing Club will provide parking on site and tent camping pitches for all teams if required (Friday and Saturday), with the galley being open throughout the weekend to supply hot/cold food, drinks and shower/toilet facilities. Our sponsor, First Mark, will operate a pop-up chandlery selling all manner of equipment and clothing over the weekend.
