It is with regret that Southport SC have to cancel the 12 Hour Race 2021. It has been a difficult decision to make as I’m sure many have been looking forward to racing away from their home clubs this summer, however ensuring the safety of all competitors, volunteers and spectators is our number one priority and to guarantee this we cannot host the event this year. As well as this, the race would only be a few days after lockdown restrictions are planned to be eased which is a big gamble to take considering this time last year, we were told it would be no longer than a three-week lockdown and look how that turned out! Also, with the lack of sailing around the country last year we understand many junior sailors have missed out on vital training sessions making it more difficult for clubs to field a team.
On a more positive note, we will be putting plans together to host this event in 2022 when (hopefully!) covid has mostly settled down and something closer to normal has returned. We will send this information to you as well as posting on our website and Facebook page closer to the time.
